About Our Institution

The District Institute of Education and Training (DIET), Biswanath, was established at Biswanath Chariali in 1989 by upgrading the former Basic Training Centre, following the recommendation of the Government of India and the Government of Assam vide Notification No. 34/89/40, dated 12 September 1989.

Over the past 27 years, DIET Biswanath has proudly contributed to the development of quality teachers at the elementary level, while providing extensive academic resources and support to strengthen the elementary education system of the district. Today, it stands as one of the most resourceful DIETs in Assam, equipped with both robust physical infrastructure and highly qualified human resources.

The institute offers both Pre-Service and In-Service teacher training based on NCTE-approved curriculum, along with short-term, need-based training programs for teachers of Lower Primary and Upper Primary schools in the district. It also undertakes field-level research and action research to address various academic and administrative challenges at the school level.

Since its inception, DIET Biswanath has viewed education as a process of enlightenment and empowerment, aimed at improving the quality of life. Committed to the universalisation of elementary education, the institute strives to deliver quality education for all, with a strong emphasis on competency-based, commitment-oriented curriculum transactions that serve the needs of society.
